Why

Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums

At Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums, we are grounded in the 5 ‘C’s that shape every part of school life. Founded on Christ, enriched by Culture, strengthened through Curriculum, nurtured by Care, and connected to Community, we are committed to supporting the identity, learning, and wellbeing of every child as they grow in faith, knowledge, and belonging.

CHRIST

Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums is grounded in Christian faith and a shared desire to live and serve together in love. Times of prayer and worship are a regular part of school life, and we share in Biblical Studies and Chapel times each week. However, our faith reaches far beyond these moments. It shapes the way we teach, care, relate, and walk together in every class, every day.

At Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums, learning is about identity formation. We nurture students to grow like a healthy tree - grounded in faith, connected to Country and community, and growing in knowledge passed down through generations.

CULTURE

Culture is central to life at Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and languages are honoured, celebrated, and woven through everyday learning. We prioritise on-Country learning experiences through our participation in the Junior Rangers Program and our weekly Bundjalung Language classes.

We work closely with local Elders and Indigenous Pastors to ensure that Traditional Knowledges, language, and cultural priorities are respected and meaningfully integrated into school life.

CURRICULUM

At Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums, we are committed to supporting strong academic outcomes alongside cultural and spiritual growth. A key focus on literacy and numeracy helps open pathways to further education, training, and employment.

Through evidence-based teaching programs (such as InitiaLit), we support jarjums to meet national standards while recognising and celebrating their unique strengths. Our goal is to equip each child with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive.

CARE

We believe that learning flourishes when children feel safe, known, and deeply cared for. At Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums, staff are chosen not only for their skills and experience, but for their gentle hearts and commitment to serving jarjums and their families.

We employ a large range of Indigenous Assistant Teachers, and an Indigenous counsellor, as well as connecting with other specialist workers to support the pastoral and social–emotional wellbeing of students.

COMMUNITY

While our foundations are built on Christ, Culture, Curriculum, and Care, strong connection to Community brings everything together. Pacific Gulgangali Jarjums exists to serve families and the broader Bundjalung community in the identity formation of their jarjums.

We are guided by regular visits from Bundjalung Elders and our Aboriginal Advisory Committee works alongside school leadership to ensure community voices, values, and priorities remain central to decision-making for school life.
